This is a prime example of how much people in this country are tired of the legal system. But not just necessarily of the legal system itself, but of the people that do their absolute best to get guilty people off. They are tired of people doing bad things without consequences. I guess these two will not get off because they could afford a super lawyer or someone for got to emphasize the right word in the reading of their rights.
This also is another example of the press stating the obvious, and thinking they are the only ones that can do their jobs…
PLANTATION - Some are calling a former U.S. Marine a hero for shooting two men — killing one — during the botched robbery of a sandwich shop in Plantation. But the men's friends and family want to know how he could gun them down and not be charged.
Ok, so lets take a look at what we have already…We have two robbers who can’t rob well. And their families defending them. ( Even though they were shot while THEY were committing a FELONY ) I am sure their “street cred” won’t go up since they can not even “knock off” a subway.
John Lovell had just finished dinner at about 11: 15 p.m. Wednesday when, Plantation police say, two men armed with guns rushed inside a Subway shop and demanded cash. After robbing the store, the men turned to Lovell. They wanted his money, police said.
But like his attackers, Lovell was armed.
Here we have a problem. The press is trying (even if it is subliminally done) to make the guns the CRIMINALS are carrying the same as the one Lowell is carrying. Criminals = carrying guns illegally to commit crime BUT Lowell = carrying a gun LEGALLY to use for self-defense. AND they are trying to make the crime “not their fault” by comparing them to a law abiding citizen. You know they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The retired military man opened fire, shooting dead Donicio Arrindell, 22, of North Lauderdale, and critically injuring Fredrick Gadson, 21, of Fort Lauderdale.
Now what they are trying to do is link a couple of things Military, Guns, and Open Fire. Lets all face it. From what I can gather from all the reports, Lowell gave these two criminals a lot of opportunities to go with just his money… but they didn’t. Maybe Lowell “disrespected” in some way. But for what ever reason they were taking him into the girls bathroom…
Lovell, 71, of Plantation, has a valid concealed weapons permit and is not expected to be charged in the shooting, said police spokesman Detective Robert Rettig. Gadson, however, faces multiple felony charges that could include murder, he said. Under Florida law, anyone who commits a felony such as armed robbery resulting in a death can be held accountable for the capital offense.
Florida law gives people the right of "self-defense without the duty to retreat." That means individuals can use deadly force virtually anywhere to prevent death or serious injury.
As it should be. This is the best thing they have said yet. But they were just stating a fact of law this time.
According to a police statement, Arrindell ordered Lovell to hand over his wallet. He intentionally dropped it on the floor and refused to pick it up, saying he was afraid. That's when Arrindell ordered him into the women's restroom.
"The victim believed he would be executed and when he noticed [Arrindell] distracted ... reached behind his back, removed his loaded .45 caliber handgun from his holster and fired seven rounds," the statement said.
Arrindell was struck twice — once in the head and once in the stomach — and collapsed. Officers found him face down, wearing sunglasses and a bandanna, with a gun near his left hand. Gadson was hit in the chest and ran from the store. Police dogs found him in the hedges of a nearby office building and bank.
There are a few questions I have for this section…First, why mess with “the old man”? Second, after you have the wallet; why make him go into the girls bathroom? And Third, why out of seven rounds did the Marine only land three? But I digress… They could have left after they robbed the store, and left the senior citizen alone. They could have picked up his wallet and left then. Or even better they could have NOT ROBBED the store altogether. But they CHOSE to do the things that led to one of their death, and the other a possible murder sentence…
Both men were taken to Broward General Medical Center, where Arrindell died and Gadson was in critical condition Thursday.
This is where I really start to have a problem…in the following...
But Gadson's grandmother, Rosa Jones, said: "He ain't no hero. He is a murderer and God will serve justice."

When all else fails bring out Grandma to get sympathy for the ones that should have had sympathy on those who, they were ROBBING…
She and her husband, Ivory Jones, pastor of a Fort Lauderdale church, sat on their front porch in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday wondering how a man could shoot two people and not go to jail.
Lets stop right here…Pastor? Really…Pastor, and they don’t know about action and consequence? I will give it to them, ok sonny is a wonderful person. What was Mr. Wonderful doing robbing a Subway…WITH a weapon.
They said their grandson sometimes hung with the wrong crowd but never got into legal trouble. According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, he has no arrest record. They said Gadson, who never finished high school, got tired of low-wage jobs and was pursuing his GED.
And that night happened to be one of those times. That he was hanging with the wrong crowd and it got his friend killed and himself shot in the chest by a LAW ABIDING, PISTOL PACKING MARINE SENIOR CITIZEN.
Arrindell’s, friends said, found himself in a similar situation: no high school diploma and working odd jobs. So he went back to school. He was a man with past troubles, including a 2004 arrest for carrying a concealed weapon, but he was improving his life, they said. He recently bought a car and had a girlfriend.
I love the argument here on the robber that was killed. “He was a man with past troubles” it says, apparently he was still getting in trouble or he and his friend would not have been robbing someone. “A 2004 arrest for carrying a concealed weapon” Now... I don’t know the circumstances behind this but he obviously didn’t learn his lesson.
But best of all they use the argument of “he recently bought a car and had a girlfriend” as proof that he was turning his life around. Wait, don’t other people have those things too? People like rapists, and murderers, gangsters, thugs, and armed robbers. So that is a really weak way to say someone was turning their life around…
So I ask, what is the real issue here?
Is this a problem of mistaken identity?
Or is it, bad things happen to good people?
Or is it a culture that tells young males that if someone disrespects you (you know, like look at you wrong) it is ok to kill them or “show them who’s boss”?
Maybe it is the education system? I mean neither one of them finished high school.
Is it, the breakdown of the morality of our society?

Is it the breakdown of the family unit?
Is it the media, sensationalizing all the instances like this?
I am not 100% sure what the issue is. I was not there, I didn’t know anyone in the situation. I don’t have all the answers. But I can say this. I have learned a few things from this story.
1. A man has 3 faces, 1 he shows the world, 1 he shows his closest family, and 1 he keeps to himself.
2. Don’t mess with old people, they may be packing heat.
3. Don’t rob people…or subways…especially in Florida (or any other state that has a conceal carry law).
4. Don’t steal.
5. The media is stupid. And they have to constantly justify their exsistance by stating the obvious.
6. If you get in a gunfight while you are robbing someone or someplace, and make it out alive, you still may go down for murder. Even if you didn't shoot anyone
7. Marines Rock, even if they are older.
8. Lastly and maybe the most important… If you live by the gun, you die by the gun.
My prayers are with all involved in this situation. I understand that the two armed robbers are people too. I also understand that every man involved with this situation is someone’s, son, brother, father, husband, boyfriend, or friend.
These situations make me sad. My heart breaks sometimes for people so young to think this is the only way. There is a better way. Maybe Gadson should have listened when his grandparents preached.
